A Platelet Plasma Shot Facial helps give you a younger appearance by using platelets removed from your own blood to promote the growth of fresh, strong skin. Dr. Jane Kardashian at Rejuvenique Medical Spa has extensive experience strategically injecting platelets where they’ll promote optimal results. Contact her office in Fresno, California, for a complimentary consultation, or schedule an appointment online as soon as you’re ready to rejuvenate your skin.
APlatelet Plasma Shot Facial is a minimally-invasive cosmetic procedure. During the procedure, Dr. Kardashian injects platelet-rich plasma (PRP) into carefully chosen areas of your face, where it promotes tissue regeneration. A PRP injection may also be combined with a dermal filler to immediately add fullness and diminish wrinkles.
Your blood naturally contains platelets. Platelets are rich sources of proteins called growth factors, which stimulate the growth of new tissues such as blood vessels, collagen, and skin.
PRP is blood plasma that’s packed with more platelets than are normally found in your blood. When PRP is injected, the platelets do their job, speeding healing and triggering the production of new tissues to replace damaged tissues. PRP injections are successfully used in medical clinics to heal injured ligaments, tendons, muscles, and joints.
Dr. Kardashian produces PRP on site using your own blood. After a small amount of blood is withdrawn, the platelets are separated, then added back to your plasma (the liquid part of your blood) to create a PRP injection.
After a PRP injection, the platelets improve blood flow to the area and stimulate collagen production. As new tissues grow, old skin is replaced with fresh skin that’s stronger. The quality of your skin gradually improves, helping you look younger and healthier.
In addition to overall skin rejuvenation, PRP may help correct other aesthetic issues. For example, PRP injections alone may diminish wrinkles and acne scars.
If Dr. Kardashian combines your PRP injection with a dermal filler, you also see an immediate reduction in the targeted wrinkles or added fullness in your cheeks, depending on the type of filler used.
The Platelet Plasma Shot Facial takes about an hour to perform, depending on the extent of the area being treated. You may experience some temporary redness, bruising, or itching at the injection sites. However, side effects are usually mild and go away within 7-10 days.
If your injection includes a dermal filler, the results last one to two years, depending on the type of filler used. After a PRP injection, collagen production and skin renewal continue for about three months. The results last longer if you protect your skin from sun exposure and stick with a daily skin care routine that includes a quality moisturizer.
